Remembering Tracy Turpen

Yesterday I learned that one of my clients/friends Tracy Turpen passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 15. I cannot tell you how sad and shocked I am. She was an INCREDIBLE photographer, a true artist at her craft, a woman who oozed creativity throughout her work. Her photographs are chalk full of emotion, you can’t help but look at them and become inspired by her and her journey throughout life. I followed her blog religiously, probably more that any other blog out there. As soon as I would feel sad, overwhelmed, at a creative stand still, I would go to Tracy’s blog and literally my sails would become full again, that is how powerful her work is. On top of all her talent, she truly was a breath of sunshine, a beautiful person, she just had a way about her that was contagious. You just wanted to be around her.

I had the pleasure of working with Tracy while we re-vamped her collateral and identity (below) in 2009. We worked closely together to develop her brand and voice, and to have it mimic the powerful images Tracy so lovingly shot. I designed a sort of landscape logo using watercolor that I felt really captured her colors perfectly. She was a green and blue person most definitely, inside and artistically. For Tracy, it was all about the images, and how we could have the design enhance that. While I was putting together her brochure and working with all her photographs, I was just completely overwhelmed with her talent and how her images stirred something inside of me. It was truly an incredible experience to work with her. My prayers go out to her fiance Tyler, her sweet little son Evander, and her warm family that she spoke so softly about. Her spirit will hang on treasured living room walls for many years to come. Her legacy will live on through her partner/fiance Tyler, I just know it. Huge hugs Tracy, we will all miss you so much, words cannot express! xo
